Hello, my name is Amelia Raben and flowers are in my blood. My grandfather was a flower farmer in the 1950s and my grandmother grew the most incredible sweet peas and roses which are one of my first scented memories as a child when my family moved from London to live in the Irish countryside. I grew up surrounded by magnificent gardens and woodland and my sisters and I had our own little flower patches where as young girls we trialled different varieties of annual.

After university, I trained in Interior Design, which over the years has developed into a love of gardens and exterior design. I have considerable experience working with plants and in gardens but my passion is growing and designing with flowers. I grow flowers that are unique – chosen for a certain quality, whether it be scent, form or colour and when I produce a bouquet or arrangement, it is always totally individual and hand-crafted especially for my customer in a loose, natural but elegant style. My floral arrangements are abundant and distinctive and I like to think that they add a little bit of luxury to a room.

I specialise in weekly seasonal flowers for private clients as well as for professional establishments in the Dublin and Kildare areas but I also provide flowers for parties, events and a few full service weddings each year. This year, I am providing a new option of a la carte weddings whereby clients can have garden fresh, luxurious flowers in line with their budgets.

In conjunction with growing flowers, I also design flower gardens for people who want to be able to cut from them for their own pleasure and likewise give garden consultations. I will be giving workshops on a variety of different subjects.

My cutting garden, where I grow most of my flowers, is situated near Clane in Co. Kildare and is a chemical-free environment attracting an abundance of wildlife and insects. I do not use floral foam and I embrace environmentally friendly floristry. My beautiful, vibrant flowers reach the client in a totally unsullied and natural state so that they are fresh, gorgeous and without artifice. My flowers are seasonal, usually from late March until October and are accompanied by freshly grown herbs and foliage. In the winter, I make totally natural wreaths for Christmas.

I would love to hear from anyone who would like to contact me about my flowers.
