Heather & Harebells is a florist and grower who is passionate about sustainability. My name is Karen and my business was established to provide beautiful, seasonal, Irish grown flowers and foliage without the need to import. I currently grow in my own, very small garden in suburban Dublin and also in a lovely old cottage in the country. I love all aspects of nature and so all of my flowers are grown without the use of chemicals.

I am a primary school teacher, currently studying Horticulture in the Botanic Gardens with Teagasc. I am also a mother and my concern for the future has lead me down the road of trying to create products which are completely compostable and/or re-useable. I source many of my containers from second hand shops which means that each arrangement is interesting and unique. My bouquets are wrapped in hessian and tied with a gorgeous handmade, plant-dyed ribbon. I also make dried flower arrangements and wreaths. My wreath bases for both fresh and dried flowers are made by me from Willow, Cornus or Hazel and can re-used. I particularly like designing ‘tablescapes’ – decorating a table for a particular season or event – as it appeals to my creative side!

My style tends towards wild and whimsical and I like to responsibly forage all sorts of plant material from the fields and hedgerows. The Irish growing season is March to October but I am currently working on growing flowers for early Spring.

I deliver locally but you are welcome to collect! You can also find me at various weekend markets during the year.
