May is when Summer really starts to make itself known, and the colours and scents of nature that are appearing everywhere can revive the most jaded spirit. Flowers, however, can also enliven the dinner table, and not just in a vase!
Edible Flowers can be used to decorate a special cake, liven up a salad, or add a ‘grace note’ to a savoury dish or dessert.
Some of our members provide edible flowers such as Pansies, Calendula & Nasturtiums. Roses can also add an elegant touch. Don’t forget the greens – mint, lemon balm and oregano look and smell lovely, so are decorative <i)and tasty.
Members of the Flower Farmers of Ireland provide these crops in season and free from pesticides and herbicides.
